When someone talks about slot cars or slot car racing, there are a few people that just do not know what you are talking about. So this is to explain to those that are curious. The first slot cars were manufactured by Lionel (USA) in 1912 and were featured in their catalogue that year. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that the slot car tracks were guided by raised rails. 1957 brought about a Scalectrix slot car, which had metal bodies. The Ferrari 375 Grand Prix and the Maserati F250 were among the first cars manufactured, in 1:24 scale.
Slot cars are small model cars, fashioned after their full sized counterparts, even down to the color and decals. A slot car has a blade that extends from the bottom front of the car to the groove on the slot car track. With this swivel blade the car will begin to slide sideways if a curve is taken at too much speed. If the slot car track has a few hills that it has to travel across, the slot car will come off the track if the car is not slowed down in time to go over the hill.
Slot car track comes in two styles; one is the country/city scenic style and the more popular, competitive racing course. The scenic slot car track will consist of the track and travels from miniature cities through the country side viewing forests, mountains, stream, and small communities with post office, and train stations. The more popular course is that of the slot car racing track, which involves many types of twists, and turns, and is more for speed and durability.
The drivers hold their controller in their hands to manoeuvre through the slot car track, enduring all the obstacles and speeds that have to be used. The driver has to know when to speed their slot car up and when to slow it down in order to stay on the track. If the speed is not slowed in time the car will lose its grip from the slot and spin sideways resulting in a crash or it can even come off the track all together. In any event if this happens the driver is out of that particular race.
The slot cars come in a commercially available body with real working engines, which run on static electricity. However, some slot car owners prefer to build their own models created with their own hands using scalectrix slot car materials and parts. The electric motor is hidden beneath the body, and operators can install larger electric engines for the slot car track. The slots are not just restricted to the cars themselves. There are other scalectrix autos such as motor cycles, and trucks that use the same blade system as in scalectrix slot cars.
HO sized slot cars were originally made at 1:87 scales in the 1960’s but later in years they advanced to 1:64 scale so that larger electric motors could be installed to increase the speed of the slot car. Other common scales are 1:24, 1:32, 1:87, and 1:64.
Today the slot car track has even advanced enough that slot cars were made using traction magnets directly fixed to the chassis and a guide pin is used instead of the swivelling flag. This was to help hold the slot car down to the slot car track at faster speeds. However, there are many slot car racing drivers that state that magnet free racing adds more realism to the sport.

Printing high quality self-adhesive labels on a laser printer is easy. All you need to do is to place them in the paper tray so they will print portrait, put your printer software on the “labels” setting and then print as usual. For improved positioning of the print you can use the media bypass slot usually positioned above the paper tray, this reduces the number of rollers the label sheet passes through and helps to prevent the print from slewing left at the top and right at the bottom of the A4 sheet.
The labels setting on your printer driver software is usually in the “settings” or “properties” section, and these options are on that rather annoying page that pops up every time you print something. Some of the more expensive or modern laser printers have auto sensing, which means they automatically sense the thickness of the media they are loaded with.
You do have to print A4 labels in a portrait direction; this is because, like wood, paper has a grain direction. The grain direction is from the top to the bottom of the sheet rather than side to side. The effect of this is that the paper is stronger along its length; this means that the labels are better supported on the backing paper and less likely to peel off the backing paper during printing.
Laser printers are not designed to print labels, they are designed to print thinner A4 sheets, so it is always a good idea to look in the printer manufacturer’s manual to find out what they advise for label printing. To enable the printers to print labels well you need to use laser labels made from laser grade paper and cut in a layout that also reduces the chances of separation from the backing during printing. Laser grade paper has a specified smoothness so that the laser toner can attain the resolution you require.
Laser labels also have a particular water content this is essential and helps the toner to key into the paper when it goes through the fuser in your printer. (The fuser is like a heated mangle with the paper passing between two rollers one of which is heated.) If the labels dry out then the laser print will smudge so always keep unused labels in their packaging. Laser labels also have a [particular|certain} type of backing paper which gives enough friction so that the rollers in the printer can move it accurately.

It was around the 1990′s that alcohol hand rub was first used in the US of America. There is so much to see and do in our country’s capital, Washington, DC that it is almost impossible to see them all in a single visit. However, that did not stop my other half and kids from making an attempt to cover everything on our current vacation. Here are only a few of the highlights we experienced on our vacation.
Our first challenge before we even left home was finding an inexpensive place to remain in the Washington, DC area. For the main part, hotels are pretty expensive in that area and make it difficult to find the best place for a family of five to stay without absolutely blowing the old budget. We ended up selecting the American Hotel in Bethesda, MD and are awfully happy with our choice. It is not the most glamorous hotel in the area but very convenient, clean and affordable. So, we highly reccomend it when looking for Bethesda hotels.
Then, on to the tourist sites we enjoyed. Naturally we started with the famous Countrywide Monuments and Commemoratives . These included the Lincoln Commemorative , the Jefferson Memorial,the Washington Monument, and the Arlington Countrywide Graveyard . There were many more as Washington is a city of monuments and memorials. Many are found on the nation’s Mall but others are pretty spread out so you will get a good walk exercise if you plan to visit them all on foot as we did. (I admit I had to visit my Sacramento podiatrist when I got back home to deal with some foot pain from so much walking)
Next came our tour of the 3 different branches of official Presidency buildings.When sightseeing in Washington, D.C, the White House, the Capitol and the Supreme court are key places to go to. Touring these galvanizing buildings will help you understand more about our executive and its history. Plan ahead and learn about schedules and special events. The state is the home and office of the President and is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. To order a tour you have to make a request through one of your members of Congress. Group tours are held Tuesday through Sat. from 7:30 a. M. and are booked one month in advance.
At the east end of the National Mall stands the majestic U. S. Capitol Building. Due to raised security, the Capitol is open to the public for steered tours only.
The one thing you will need to do for sure is take a large amount of photographs as you tend to remember everything as you will remember everything as you are so impressed at the time but listen to me, your memories have a tendency to fade and it is always better to have some photographs to help bring those memories back into sharp focus. I’m not one of those food photographers but wish I was to have better captured some of the beauty we saw on ths holiday
Also, in addition to the typical traveller attractions discussed above, you may find that the Washington, DC area has some of the best restaurants in the country. I suppose this may be due to all of the important politicians that live there as well as the many dignitaries that visit the area and need to go out to eat.
Well, that rather sums up our trip and I can only hope that you get the opportunity to visit the Washington, DC area.

With a quick search on the internet, one will find that there are literally thousands of weight loss methods being promoted online. When you hear the word hospital, the first thing that will come to your mind is that it is a place with a number of different pieces of equipment. These pieces of equipment come in different shapes and sizes. There are pieces of equipment that could be as big as a cabinet and there are others that can be carried around in the pocket. Whatever the sizes of this equipment, they are required for the everyday running of the hospital.
When an emergency occurs, the first line of care is the paramedics and the ambulance. The paramedics are the first people that can give immediate treatment to the patient. The ambulance, having all the paramedic supplies and equipment needed serves as an immediate hospital. Being an extension of the hospitals in giving medical care, the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons and American and College of Emergency Physicians has come up with a list of the standard paramedic supplies that an ambulance should have. After the revised list was made public by these two organizations, the National Association of Emergency Physicians has given their support to the standardized list. They believe that the ambulance should not only have a skilled paramedic but high quality paramedic supplies as well to ensure a second to none emergency care that they can give.
These organizations have categorized the paramedic supplies and equipment into basic and advanced level providers. One of the main pieces of equipment that should be present on the equipment list is the paraguard stretcher. The Paraguard stretcher is a movable bed that acts as a movable space for the injured party where they are safe from any items that might be lieng about on the road. This is where the patient can be loaded, from the scene of the emergency then carried inside the ambulance. By placing the patient on the stretcher, this ensures that no further injury can happen to the patient because the paramedics need not carry him or her by hand. Without the stretcher, the patient may suffer from back injury when he is carried by the paramedics. A Stretcher keeps the patient in a stationary position. And the stretcher also has straps to keep the patient in place while being transported to the hospital.
Aside from the stretcher, other paramedic supplies that can be found inside an ambulance are the nitrile gloves. These nitrile gloves are included in the category of infection control paramedic supplies.
Other categories of paramedic supplies that an ambulance should have are ventilation and airway equipment. These are for clearing the air pathways of the patient so that air can flow freely; Monitoring and defibrillation machines for reviving the patient. Immobilizers for the neck are also needed for those who have sustained injury. This will prevent the body from sustaining additional injuries due to body movements. The bandages are also to be included for treatment of wounds. Ambulance’s today also include communication devices for the paramedic and the doctor. Obstetrical supplies, injury prevention equipment, and other miscellaneous devices.
These are the standard paramedic supplies and equipment to provide proper emergency care for the patient. Without these, they might put the patient’s life at risk instead of saving it.
