Matters to Consider When Bringing Home A Precious New Kitty
Cats have a natural tendency to want to go to the bathroom in the gravel or dirt where they may scratch. Also little kitties start to learn from their mommy, so by the time your kitten is prepared to be brought to your house employing a litter box will likely feel comfortable to her. She will likely need a little steering though.
Felines are personal about their litter box habits so be sure you put the litter box in a quiet place that the kitten can easily access. When you bring her home take her over to the litter box and place her into it. She will likely jump out yet that’s okay. You want to get her familiar with it. It’s good to put her in the litter box a few times a day until you notice she is using it regularly. If you notice her using it step back and let her have her privacy.
Cats usually begin using the litter box pretty quickly, however if for some cause your kitten isn’t using it do not admonish her. This can befuddle her or cause stress which may lead to other problems. Rather than reprimand it is best to clean the mess well and begin setting her in the litter box more oftentimes until she starts getting the flow of it.
If she keeps messing outside of the litter box observe to catch if she is either straining to go to the bathroom or has diarrhea. These could be signs of a medical trouble which may be causing the litter box problems. In this example you will need to consult your vet.
You will have much greater luck litter training your precious little kitten if you keep the litter box in a quiet room where the kitten feels safe. Keep the litter box away from high traffic areas and apart from noisy appliances. It also must be handy, so if you have multiple levels in your home you should keep a litter box on every floor. And maintain all litter boxes away from the cat’s feeding area. Not unlike us kitties don’t enjoy going to the bathroom where they eat.
I hope this advice helps you get started with your new kitten. But if anything goes wrong, you might look for more information on cat spraying. Yes, I know might be an repellent subject, but knowing how to handle cat spraying will be critical to you and your beloved cat’s contentment.
You must maintain 1 litter box for each kitty plus 1 additional one. I know this may be challenging in tiny homes or condos so at least have one litter box per kitty.
