Shudra Software Joins Microsoft Visual Studio and Partners Program
Shunra, a provider of WAN emulation and software development testing solutions, has joined the Visual Studio Industry Partners (VSIP) Program to help closer align the WAN emulation capabilities of Virtual Enterprise (VE) Desktop with Microsoft Visual Studio.
The VSIP Program is focused on providing technical and marketing support to partners who have integrated their products with Visual Studio. The integration of VE Desktop with Visual Studio will ensure that the applications of customers run as expected over the production network. As this capability comes in the form of a plug-in, developers can easily determine whether their software code will encounter performance problems when deployed over the live network.
“By working with Microsoft, we are confident that VE Desktop will help provide developers using Visual Studio with the ability to better understand and resolve application acceleration performance issues before the QA process and prior to end-user impact,” said Matt Reid, Shunra vice president of worldwide marketing.
The integration enables the developer community to finally take a proactive stance in creating applications that perform as expected and are network-aware. Reid is confident that the organizations deploying this solution will significantly reduce costly redesigns, application rollbacks, or prolonged testing that commonly occurs in early stage network testing processes.
Commenting on this solution, Joe Marini, director, Development Tools Ecosystem at Microsoft said that integrating VE Desktop with Visual Studio will help customers design their software with the network in mind from the beginning. This will benefit the developers and companies that expect high performing applications to run optimally over the WAN.
Shunra Software officials point out that this new capability serves as a routine check when used regularly and therefore the applications don’t get sent back to development after QA testing. The new solution as other benefits as well such as database testing, assessing authentication efficiencies, testing Web page design, SOA or mash up design testing.
Julie Craig, senior analyst, Enterprise Management Associates finds this integration to be an exciting step forward for application development professionals who knows the importance of designing software for the network and wants to reduce cost and time to market.
“Bugs found early in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) are exponentially cheaper to fix than those found during QA or production,” she added.
