Tinnitus is common in most of the people, but still the causes of tinnitus remain still unidentified in many patients. Damage to the inner ear or extensive exposure to loud sounds, buildup of wax, age related problems or stricture of ear bones are all very common reasons of the occurance of tinnitus.
Inner ear cell damage or damage to the find cochlear hairs that conduct sound to the ear drums is a common cause of tinnitus. The sound waves move the delicate hairs located along the inner ear canal which in turn trigger the auditory nerve to produce electrical signals. These signals stimulate the brain and interpreted as a sound. Damage to the inner ear or cochlear hairs can meant that incorrect impulses are being sent to the brain which can be a cause of tinnitus.
Hearing loss in older age may also become the reason of tinnitus. A decrease in hearing as they age,many people experience. When the nerves of the inner ear weaken it can cause tinnitus.
Having listened to loud noises over a long period of time is a leading cause of deafness and also of tinnitus. People who work around loud machinery, are exposed often to gun shots, motor explosions, or even listen to iPods or other devices often can experience ear damage. Long term exposure can lead to permanent damage and tinnitus,but short term exposure can cause tinnitus that goes away as the ear heals.
It can cause tinnitus as well if the pressure from the wax buildup affects the nerves in the inner ear,and a buildup of earwax commonly causes hearing loss. Easily remedied by removing the excess wax,this is one cause of tinnitus.
Which is a stiffening of the ear bones in the middle ear,some people suffer from otosclerosis. It is inherited and may result in growth of extra bone in the ear and may generate hearing loss and tinnitus.
Whereas these are the commonly known reasons for tinnitus, few people never find out the reasons of their problem. The stress, damage to the head and neck, tumors of the brain and hypertension may be the causes of the tinnitus according to doctor. Meniere’s disease is seldom found and is an inner ear disturbance which may produce tinnitus.
